Engine Block Stitching. Ford Model T 1915

A guy at work has a problem with the engine block of his Model T. The crank sheared and in the process has split the block at the rear. There are a couple of hair line cracks and one about 1mm wide.
Is it possible to get the block repaired and can anyone recommend somewhere? He has managed to get hold of another short block but would like to get this engine repaired as it is the original with the car.

I have used Stanwood Engineering in Bawtry before (Jonathan). Some very capable staff there and I have seen head repairs they have done which were pretty impressive. Also BH Autocraft in Doncaster. Cast iron repairs are a highly skilled job so be careful who you trust with this rare block. I think it's necessary to preheat the block first and a have a go hero could distort it and make matters worse.

Cast Iron has to be heated before and after welding .. not for the faint hearted.

I wouldn't want to be in his situation. It's not exactly like you can call up All Parts and get another one on next day backorder is it!

Not sure if these guys are still around but they used to do a lot of repairs to iron blocks and heads...

Try Jim Stokes Workshops Ltd.
He is world famous for re-building and re-manufacturing old race car engines.
Part of his business is L&S UK who are specialists in repair of castings.
They are in Waterlooville. You have to go there just to see the fabulous vehicles they have in there being restored.
