Rv8 won't start......................again !!!!
Discussion
Might remember me posting a simpilar prob a while back. Havn't started the motor for about 3 weeks as been fitting manifolds, plumbing in brake/clutch lines etc, and now i'm done it won't go again!
It floods really quickly as there is no/very weak spark.
Got a big battery on there now. The constant live to the coil is fine. A mate of mine suggested putting a second engine earth strap on as he had a similar prob, so done that. I have tried 3 differnt coils now so I am guessing that is not at fault, replaced dizz cap n leads, king lead.
Could the ignition module have just died or is this quite unlikely ???
When I firstly put the engine in it started after a few mins after having been sat in the workshop for like 6 months, now nothing, I just dont get it!

This engine is a common source of angst in the LR4x4 fraternity and the most common answer given is to replace the dizzy cap, rotor and leads with genuine replacement parts..no others will do.
However my vote goes for your ignition amp. My 3.5 would eat 2 or 3 a year before I binned the whole system and replaced it with Ford EDIS.

Local motor factors should have an amp. Last one I bought was about £22 I think.
Easy to fit but you must clean the mounting faces well and use some heat transfer paste on the back of the amp. It gets very hot and needs to shift the heat out through the dizzy body.
You could use EDIS but would also need to fit Megajolt which all gets rather expensive. Once fitted this setup is waterproof so the 4x4's can run under water.

Easy way of fixing it is to fit a modern replacement dizzy. I've fitted the 123 systems a few times and really rate them
But they are £200
OTOH a spark plug tester is about a quid so you can at lest check if that's the problem. Also I make up my own silicon lead sets and they've never been worse than OEM ones. Much cheaper too
