I have a 2 Litre turbo charged VX astra engine in my trackday car, producing about 330hp. I'm looking for somebody in the south (Sussex) to balance and rebuild the engine with new upgraded parts. I have all the parts needed for the job, so just need a good engine builder. Recomendations would be appreciated.

I'm looking for somebody there can blueprint the engine, if I just wanted it put back together, them I would do it myself. The car do about 20 to 25 trackdays a year and I'm planning to do some sprints to.

Save your money. The OE factory spec is perfectly good as far as tolerances go and no one you go to who claims to do "blueprinting" is going to change those anyway, or probably even be able to. Get the bores rehoned, new rings etc, the oil pumps have a habit of playing up on those and I always hated sealing the rear main caps but otherwise if you can put the engine together yourself to a decent standard then it'll be fine.

I'm fitting oversized low compression pistons, new stronger conrod's and light weight flywheel instead of the dualmass one, so would like to get everything balanced as It's often taken up to 8000rpm

Is that one a Z20LET or the newer Z20LEH? From the sounds of the output (330 bhp) you've changed the turbo from the standard anyway?

I used to get my VX220 Turbo (Z20LET engine but mid-mounted, all sorts of heat management problems) looked after by Thorney Motorsport but experience is mixed. I haven't heard many bad words spoken about Courtenay, who are Vauxhall turbo engine specialists - they're in Norfolk IIRC so maybe a bit of a trek for you. But they know those engines inside out and know what bits are worth uprating / which are OK stock, etc.

Sounds like a bit of a mental engine, I'd have loved it in my old VXT, but I doubt it'd produce the power because of the lack of space for intercoolers / chargecoolers...

It's the later LEH engine with a hybrid turbo. I,m more looking for somebody there are used to build race engine's, as I want everything balanced for high RPM's.

Bugger. Puma might come across a bit preachy. And his website is a masterpiece in basic HTML.

( http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/ ) yikes

But annoyingly he's usually right about this sort of thing.

You could always turn this into a build thread Neilson so we can share your pain. smile

Wise words, but we always want a litle more;)

I'm now sleving the block to take it back to oem size bores so I can use the oem piston's with stronger rod's and new bearing. hopefully that should last me some time.

Engine is used in this
