I was just told by my garage that the engine needs to be replaced on my Mazda6 2.0 diesel. I've never dealt with this before, thus would like to ask those of you who's been unfortunate enough to replace engines or re-manufacture them. Where is the best place to look for a second hand engine? Any advises, links or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help you myself but you can get ahead of the game by answering the inevitable question.
Make, model, year, engine code etc.

If you let them source it then it may be a bit more expensive but you could get a warranty on it and fitting.

Is that not basically the same motor as a Mondeo?

Try these people, there are loads of 6s listed on their site.

The website is a bit clunky, but it would appear that they are currently breaking five Mazda 6s.
They are reputed to be the biggest dismantlers in the UK even though they are in Northern Ireland. I believe they operate a delivery service and have a short warranty period. The cost of shipping an engine is probably about £100 from NI to the mainland.
( usual disclaimer - I have used them but have no other connection )
