Is that not a MAP sensor? Its hard to tell. Does it have a somewhere for the gasses to vent?
Thats what I was thinking. It doesn't look as though it has anywhere for the gasses to vent...1. An OEM dump valve will generally dump back into the intake, it wont vent to atmosphere.
2. I've never seen a dump valve connected to the loom.
I don't think thats a dump valve.

Right, looked closely into this and the pic I posted IS the Dump Valve.
It can be heard/seen here in the bottom right with the BMC Filter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly8-zoq0mMg

I can hear a stupid noise of accurately measured air being vented into the atmosphere resulting in overfuel conditions as the air vanishes from the ecu's point of view, but at least the sound of a kitten's sneeze and petrol fumes will turn a few heads on the highstreet.

DUHModern engines dump so much fuel in on the overrun, dont they ? Oh...when does a DV operate ? On the overrun. So it really doesnt matter what air goes through the MAF even if it doesnt sound a bit gay.

I was thinking more of a mouses sneeze! I don't want it stupidly loud anyway, don't want it to sound 'too' chavvy, just think it will add a bit more character to an already awesome car and also give a few extra horses
eliot's right, you won't gain power.
A decent DV on a big custom car might be needed to keep the turbo from stalling itself, and it'll keep spinning fast, and help with response, but your original system will have that under control anyway. You might get a touch more response, but not extra power.
Anyway, it's your car, and you are free to add sneezing mice if you wish.
Have you got any more pics of the engine and pipework? any other little black boxes which could be the DV?

How many horses will the dump valve provide?
I've looked into it on the Fiat/Abarth forums and the pic I originally posted is the the DV. It's made by FPT (Fiat Powertrain) unlike my old Punto GT which was Bosch.

They also mess about with the air at idle, hence most DV manufacturers recommend recirc for MAF cars rather than atmospheric, and Forge made that Split-R one, a recirc that keeps the ecu happy but still makes the noise by venting a little outside.
They only affect the idle if you install the wrong type or have it adjusted wrong.stevieturbo said:

Also it doesn't make any difference what type you use if your car is a speed/density type management, its only silly MAF type that get messed up with standard piston dump valves, but imo MAF type is crap for forced induction anyway.
