Renault alarm resetting help needed

hi my partner has a renault megane(migrain) cabriolet 1.6 8v 1997
The battery died so i took it off and got a new one but i cannot refit the battery without the alarm having a fit.
It has an alarm immob unit with the sounder next to the battery not through the horn i connect the battery as soon as i do the alarm goes off try resttingit with the fob and it locks and unlocks the doors but keeps sounding if i get in the car start the engine the alarm sounds but goes off after bout 10 seconds switch it off and off it goes again try using fob still wont switch off the led is indicating that the immob is not switch off any ideas hows to reset or stop it going off??
