removing air con compressor

If I take off the air con compressor to replace with a new one will all of the gas escape? will it need re-gassed? Can I do this myself or is it a job for a specialist?

If you removed a water pump, would you expect water to leak out ?

And yes, filling requires special equipment.

It is illegal to intentionally leak ac gas into the atmosphere*, you need to have the system degassed, then swap the pump & then have it regassed by a specialist.
