Hi i have a problem starting a my 1760 xflow with 11,6 to one comperssion .
have a reduction stater and using red top 20 battery but it is very slow when being turned over any ideas where to start.

Try a jump start from another car .. that way you will know if the battery is man enough for the job or not.

And ensure any wiring to the starter motor is adequate, as well as earthing.

Does it actually start and run?

Just thinking it could be something else rather than electrics or starter.

Check ignition timing, you need minimal static advance with that much compression.

If I was running that on my Emerald system - I would have cranking timing at 2 or even 0 degrees and as soon as it started say 800 rpm as 8 degrees .. that lets the engine start much easier with a high CR.

many thanks
fault found to be faulty IGN wire loosing volts to coil run new wire
time for new loom i think

Glad you got it sorted, but I don't understand how a voltage drop to the ignition coil would cause the starter to run slowly?

It won't.

But having too much advance at start-up will .. with that CR.
