Is it a quattro or FWD? The FWD drive autos are CVT so you won't feel a gear change like an ordinary auto. If thats not that case then can we have some more info? MY & Engine/Gearbox code.

T-Reg is around the same time the Multitronic (CVT) was introduced so that maybe what you have. In the boot where the spare wheel is there should be a white sticker with the Engine / Gearbox code, they are both three letter combinations, e.g ABC. From the gearbox code I will be able to tell if it is a CVT box or not.

EBY is not a CVT gearbox so the fact that it is not changing up is a problem, probably not what you wanted to hear. ON the dash console are the PRNDS letters all highlighted or are none of them showing at all? Either of these situations means you have problem with the gearbox control unit. The first thing I think you need to do is get the diagnostic trouble codes read. Do you know anyone who has VAG-COM/VCDS? If not you will have to take it to a garage. Either an Audi main dealer or a VAG specialist. I don't think a lot of garages will have the required diagnostic software.

Does it ever change up if so does it jolt or does it just go to the red line as if it is first gear?
