1996 Mitsi Galant 2L 16V - Engine diagnostic help.....
Discussion
Hi all
I am trying to find out what is wrong with the above mentioned car.
It lost all power then would not run. It is now at my father in laws dads house awaiting repair. He is a independent old skool garage with not much in the way of electrical machinery.
he has the basics and had managed to read the 'message' from the car - the ABS light and Engine warning light flash in sequence. Can anybody decode it without the need for a main dealer?
Code: (L = Long dash, S = Short dash)
ABS Light - S S S S L L S L L S S L L S S S L L
Engine Light - L L S S
They both keep flashing this 'message' simultaneously and wont stop until battery is disconnected. Then you have to wait 8 hours before they will do it again.
I know its vague but anybody have any ideas?
Nick

Engine light is crankshaft position (CKP) sensor fault, although I'd be careful with that one as most ECUs show this as a fault whilst the engine isn't turning over!Engine Light - L L S S
Taken from here click. Doesn't cover ABS codes I'm afraid, but I'd have thought the first priority would be getting the engine running so you can ignore that for the time being.
