Hi,

I have searched Ricardo Wave on here and it seems there are some among you who seem to know about or have used it.

I am just starting my summer project and have never used wave before, I have been given some old models created in version 3.6.1 with file extension .flp. However version 8.1 doesn't seem to like them, though I could easily be doing something wrong.

Basically I am just trying to open them to have a look at and play with the model before I start changing and updating them for my research.

Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

Cheers,

Ryan

Are you positive that an flp file is a model file? Model files for the newer versions are wvm, but create a load of files with different extensions when they run (can't find any flps in any of mine though).

I'm not familiar with the older versions so can't really help with opening an old file, but I would recommend following the tutorials in the help system - the whole help system is very good.

What kind of stuff will you be doing?

Thanks for the help, I am not sure what type of file they are really. They are just from an email from Ford I have been forwarded which states included is the engine model.

I did think that they could be component files of a complete model but I have no idea how I would go about opening them all as a complete model - as far as I can tell the email only contains one model and there are approximately 20 files. Some with other extensions such as .dat .map .cmp .out .rp .sum .wgm .wvd .val

The work is looking at creating new faster and more accurate optimisation algorithms for high pressure turbo diesels.

Those are the files that make up the results. Have you not got any wvm files? You might be able to open the wvd in Wave Post rather than Wave Build.

Hello,

Thought would just update this quickly - I now have a .wvm file. Went to see my supervisor and he managed to get the .dat file to open and then form a .wvm file. So all sorted now, cheers for the help.

I used 7.2.1 for my dissertation recently - out of interest what is version 8 like?
