vw t4 2.5 tdi oil pressure problem
Discussion
Just got my engine reconed and it seems to run fine but I took her to 3k rpm in 3rd dipped the clutch to change gear and the low oil pressure light came on and beeped a few times.
Took it to my mates garage took him out to how him and it only happens in 3rd gear not 1st or 2nd. At idle it runs with no low oil pressure indication.
put a ressure gauge onto the block and it is showing 0 psi when ticking over and revving.
Any one any ideas what to do apart from changing the sensors ?

mechanical or electric gauge ?
If the gauge is known to work, I'd be very worried if it was indeed showing 0 psi with the engine running.
Can you remove a plug from an oil gallery, and spin the engine over to see if any oil is actually flowing ? ( ie oil pressure sender, or oil feed to turbo or something )
Obviously dont run it for more than a couple few seconds.

If you are getting zero on both the gauge and the original sensor, either there is something blocking the sensor take off, which is going to be pretty annoying, or there is something seriously wrong, like a forgotten gasket and you do actually have no oil pressure.
I'd be inclined not to start it up again, call the engine place, and get it trailered to them. Depending on how slippy they are, you might need to bring it elsewhere incase they say you drove it with the light on, and caused all the problems yourself, from not refilling it with oil or something.
There are plenty of vids on youtube that show an engine happily revving away without oil for quite a long time before they seize up, so don't take it's apparent working condition as a pointer that it's a false positive.

Went to take the sump off this morning but cant get 2 bolts our without removing flywheel so gearbox has to be removed.
Engine is now getting removed and sent back to the builder as I am would be happy with the engine if we found a problem with the oil pump etc as it has run for about 4 hrs with no oil pressure.
