any vauxhall techs out there help me with an 04 meriva 1.7 cdtdi.we serviced the car a while back and the day after the customer came back complaining of excessive black smoke on acceleration, which it definatly does and it goes like a gti on steroids. have spent a small fortune trying to cure this fault but to no avail. no codes stored air flow changed etc etc. been through back door at local dealer mates there scratching heads, also been to diesel specialist and they have no idea of cause.

hmmm first thing that came to my head is a blown turbo, but you would've thought the diesel specialist would pick up on this if it was the problem

check the oil level, has the engine used any oil ?

There isn't any chance:

a: it's been remapped
b: has a tuning box installed?
