Does anyone know of somewhere near to Kingston (Surrey) that has facilities to stretch/ expand stainless pipe. I have a wastegate connection pipe that connects into my turbo crossover pipe that wont quite slip on, I wont bore you with the details but its a left over bodge from some work done in the past. Also potentially looking for someone friendly who is a bit handy welding stainless so I can adapt one end of my crossover to take a Garrett turbo hotside rather than a KKK.

Anything pre-turbo, must be 100% sealed. A single conventional slip joint will not be sufficient.

As far as welding goes, anyone with a MIG can weld it. TIG may look nicer, but certainly is not required.

I think Simpson Race exhaust may be in the area

Or this place shouldnt be too far.

Its not something that should be welded, its a factory join which has a special gasket to seal it not a normal slip joint. Its like a male female connection except that the modified piece that was made for my setup did not mate up properly. I have now got a solution that will work I just need to expand the pipe slightly to make it work. Either that or cut and weld the pipe from the original tube onto the modified section (it will still use the same male female connection and gasket) but a pipe expander should be able to do the same job and saves having it all cut and tack welded in situ. I went to see Simpsons a while back and while their stuff was very good I didnt get a good feeling from them and their prices were way OTT, and that was just for a simple tail pipe, I would hate to see how much they charged for modifying my crossover and I wouldnt want them stripping down the top end of my car to get to it either. They were also booked out for 2 months.

Just recently bought and broke one of those.
It looks the part and would most likely work fine on mild steel but the stainless did not move a micron.
I was really leaning on it before the thread stripped.
It may be that you need to heat the SS whilst stretching.

Mates just had a full custom system made by Longlife in Basingstoke and they should help you out. The system they made was spot on.............

Thanks for all the input. I definately need an industrial strength expander, I had already looked at the manual workshop tools and decided they would not do the job. I think I will try Longlife as its only a small piece, they should have the means to do it.

I was going to try Wallington, Basingstoke is too far to trek for what I need.

Took it to Longlife in Wallington, did it while I waited and very reasonable, nice guys and good customer service. In the end we did not stretch it, I used another piece which had the correct end on it and Dan cut it off and welded to the pipe in question which we also cut down. Had to go a bit on the short side to make sure the finished pipe was not too long as the slip fit allowed some margin for error if it was shorter but not if longer. Could have made it a centimeter longer to be perfect but it fits and should do the job and get me mobile enough to get the full system looked at in a while when I have finished putting the car back together.
