My brother in law, an experienced mechanic, changed the timing belt on this car only for it to throw it off 5 miles down the road. After repairing and refitting the head the engine only produces @ 1 bar of oil pressure. All the obvious things have been checked, including sump off to check shells. The oil pump itself seems to pump very well but still low pressure. Now, after speaking with fitters at the local Ford dealership, this has been encountered before without a solution. Can anyone give us any pointers as suicide is being contemplted.

How do you know the pump is pumping well? Have you checked the pressure relief valve on the pump for any signs of muck from the head being taken off and replaced and ending in the oil in the sump. Is the oil good? not mixed with water or petrol etc. I know Zetecs run 5w30, so quite thin anyway.............

Brov in law recons pump is good, relief valve OK with no muck, oil new with new filter even tried with old filter just in case that was faulty.
Keep the ideas coming.
