Help, Ford Ka throttle pedal feels loose.

Hi, it's an 08 Ka. Under partial throttle it felt a bit jumpy and I thought the cable might have needed tightening. Had a look and the pedal can bounce up and down about half an inch without it feeling like there is any tension on the cable. Is this normal or does something need tightening up? Ta for any advice.
