Hi , I am looking to transplant a cosworth 24 valve V6 engine from a ford scorpio into My Tvr Taimar and would like to know which MT75 gearbox will work with this engine. Would one from a diesel Transit work ?

Thanks for any replies,
Geoff

unless you can find a euro spec 2.4 or 2.9 manual mk3 granada, you will have to make one up!

you will need a sierra or granada 4x4 gearbox, and a 2.0 dohc manual box. the bell housings arent removable, so you will need the front half of the 4x4 box, and the back half 0f the 2.0 box :s

the input shaft is shorter on the 2.0 box, whereas the v6 needs a long input shaft. the transit diesel boxes also have the longer input shaft, but the gear lever isnt remote mounted frown

Thanks for the replies guy's.

Justin , I would be very interested in the company in essex that does the conversion work as I am not far away in Cambridgeshire.

MK2 24v , are you saying that the transit box is ok but the gear lever may be too far forward ??

Cheers
Geoff

Thanks Gavin , useful bit of reading there , makes me think my win of a transit MT75 gearbox on ebay this evening will not be a waste of money. The only question now is where will the gearstick poke up in the cabin of my TVR ? Hopefully I can position the engine so that it should not be too far out of normal position. And also modify the gearstick a bit if necessary.

Thanks
Geoff
