The girlfriend has a C3 1.4 16V diesel, last week it developed an intermittant power loss. As I haven't witnessed it first hand this is based on her description of what has been happening!
The first incident was while driving on the motorway, it lost power and dropped down to about 60, after stopping on the hard shoulder and turning the engine off for a few minutes it started and drove fine. The power loss did happen again a couple of times after but by taking it out of gear and back in again it was ok and she made it home.
It was booked in for a service a couple of days later and she asked them to look it over. They couldn't find anything obvious.
A couple of days after this she drove over to mine, it was fine til near the end of the journey when it lost power again on a roundabout. Shes not sure what happened exactly and she was busy trying to recover to the side of the road. However the engine warning light was on which hadn't happened before. Again after stopping the engine for a few minutes it started and drove fine.
I've only just had chance to look it over but am at a bit of a loss on something this modern smile The only odd thing I could find is a small clear rubber hose hanging out underneath a couple of inches, near the back of the diff. The other end is flapping about near the fuel filter, not plumbed into anything. From flicking through the manual it looks to be the fuel drain hose, it did have the fuel filter replaced so I assume it hasn't been put back correctly. There's a connector on the bottom of the fuel filter which it could fit on to.
Other than that there is a little oil on the externals of the inlet side of the turbo. There was also a little on the inside when I took the turbo inlet air pipework off. It looks like a breather is plumbed into this which may be the source of it. Don't know if that points to turbo issues (never had a turbo car before).

The plan now is to take it to Citroen and have them see if any fault codes are present. Just wondered what to expect, I assume it'll be something electrical on its last legs?

Could be the crankshaft position sensor, That would cause the problems you describe.
