Hi all,

I'm looking for some copper/lead backed main bearings for my race motor. Looking for the Rover V8 400/450 size. Anyone know where I can get some? They seem to be a bit thin on the ground at the moment...

Your engine still probably puts out less bhp per litre at lower peak rpm than most standard 4v road engines. What makes you think it needs copper/lead heavy duty bearings to keep on running ok?

My preferred bearings are the Israeli made King aluminium ones but frankly any known name babbit bearings will be just fine for you.

They are necessary because it is not a rover v8. It is a 4.7L tvr ajp v8 hoping for about 500bhp. The problem is that it uses a flat plane crank, so it hammers its bearings. It just happens to use the same size bearings as a 400/450 rv8..

You could try JE Developments, or Nevlock Components in Coventry, they are ACL Bearing Distributors.
