Anyone work for LuK ?? (info on clutch actuator required)
Discussion
I'm just look ing at a few options for automating the clutch on my car, enabling some anti-stall logic, some launch logic, a "handbrake" declutch strategy etc.
It just made sense to see if i could use some existing h/w, and if i use a "powered" master cylinder with integral displacement sensor then i don't have to modifiy the clutch release mech in the bellhousing etc.
Regarding the cal, i was planning on just using the motor and displacement sensor from the LuK actuator and nailing on my own Uc & H bridge to control it.
Basically if i knew what the maximum ouput pressure from the mechanical system was i can work out if it's worth trying to base something on that actuator etc!

I did some work on an automated clutch a while back.. got some info on all the actuators somewhere - will try and dig it out on Monday.
I'm not involved in the cal, but the guys that were found massive issues with the clutch wear correction. The vehicle we were dealing with had approx. 4mm clutch wear over it's life time! They had a great cal for a new clutch, but if we stuck the equivalent of 5k wear on, it would be terrible again!
Was an interesting project though!

Obviously not the route you want to take. But there are already systems out there that do what you wish to achieve. No doubt pricey too.It just made sense to see if i could use some existing h/w, and if i use a "powered" master cylinder with integral displacement sensor then i don't have to modifiy the clutch release mech in the bellhousing etc.

Luckily as a purely competition car wear is not an issue, i'll just write a "bite point learn" strategy that re-adapts it, and this can be done regularly. also the clutch isn't used on any gear shift (up or down) so it's only got to do pull away. (Antistall is the main reason i'd like to add and automated clutch, because with a 5" CC multiplate clutch and bugger all engine inertia, combined with a 65mph 1st gear, getting off the line is suprisingly tricky!
I don't really want to use an exisiting "off the shelf" solution as that won't give me any access to the firmware, which would limit the things i could code etc
