hello

I have a lupo 1.4s and i want the car to be a beast! i have around 2-3k to spend initially, and i want the power to increase and the tourque. i know alot of you will say dont bother with the lupo but i really want to. How would you go about the modifications and what would you have done? i was thinking engine boring? upgraded pistons and cams? turbos? remaps? custome exhausts? gearboxes? cooling systems? breathing systems? just need some advice and knowlegde to know what order to do things in and what sort of power i would be expecting? thanks for helping

Bloody hell that was quick, on your other thread you were thinking of buying on at 20.09 and now at 20.15 you've got one.

Anything more than breathing mods and at a push maybe CAMS arn't worth it on a 1.4 you'll throw money at it for not much return to be honest mate.

Exhaust (not halfords) proper Lupo forum recommended system.
Intake system again go for a recommended system
Re-map resaults will be minimal but some gain will be had when teamed with the above.

Cams ........ I wouldn't bother but it's upto you chap.

Throttle bodies or Carbs would sound emense but again you're not going to make a 1.4 "a beast"

Forced air induction isn't worth it chap, best bet would be to get hold of a polo or lup GTI engine and slot that in ......

Cheers for your help I understand what's the biggest engine I could fit into the car with reasonable ease? And what work should I carry out on the engine for maximum results?

1.6 lupo GTI lump (125bhp)will slot in with ease ( just need to get hold of one though ...) with appropriate exhaust, intake and mapping I'd expect to see 140bhp as a good figure all in something that weighs as much as a fart ( p.s the lupo GTI's are rapid as standard so it certainly would shock some more expensive machinery)

Thank you veryy much for your help if I was trying to acheive 250- 300 bhp what would I have to do? The cost isn't applicable

I reckon - spaceframe chassis, midengined with Volvo T5 engine or something, drop the Lupo body on the top. Throw enough money at it and anything's possible!

Realistically, it's been said, any more than an exhaust/induction/remap will cost a fortune and not yield much. Best bang for buck is GTI engine - but you'd be better off with a GTI as it has better suspension, brakes, etc. and not being modified will be much cheaper to insure (I assume this is an issue for now as a 6th former)

Either mid engined space frame as NCOT (abreviated hehe ) said, or shoe horn in a 1.8T lump with intercooler , hybrid turbo ,head work, cams etc would be 400ish but the car wouldn't cope very well...... 250-300 would be more than enough in a small (975kg) car hehe

plus suspension , integral weld in cage to stop it collapsing or snapping in half hehe Brakes etc

£6k should see you with a nice 1.8T set up. Factor in another £4k for insurance.

Getting the 1.8T lump in there will most likely be the best bet. Lots of aftermarket support for the engine and will be a good power boost even as standard.
