Hi guys,

I have a diesel engine with loads of torque but I would like to move it up the rev band from 1500 to say 4000rpm. Does anybody know how I would go about this? biggrin

That is the characteristic of a diesel engine.(low down torque with little high end power with a not very high rev limit due to compression and combustion issues)

Most diesels don't rev past 4K rpm anyway ..... so unless i've missed the point I think you're clutching at an empty barrel.

I think what you want there, is a petrol engine.
Sorry.

Okay thanks guys. biglaugh

I know about the whole low end peak torque and power. Just thought I might be able to alter it a little with cams etc.

Why on earth would you want to ?

And you dont even state what diesel engine it is. Some BMW's tend to rev a bit better, until a turbocharger destroys itself.

For a start, the same torque at n times the revs, requires n times the power. In your case n=2.67ish

Cheers,

Add a massive turbo that doesn't spool up 'til 3000rpm. It'll be absolutely gutless below that, but you'll get 1000rpm of glory before you have to change up and it drops off boost.

Peaking a little too early on track.
