Mk 1 Clio not starting.

May be buying an 1.2 R-Reg Clio that has been stood outside for nearly two years.

It worked when it was parked up 2 years ago, but after charging the battery today it refuses to fire. It turns over healthily on the starter, but refuses to fire. It did splutter at one point, but then gave up again.

Any clues, it has bugger all petrol in it, would it be worth putting some fresh fuel in?

If a car wont start you have to check the three major things an engine requires to run first. Air, Fuel, Spark. Whats the fuel pressure like? Is any fuel reaching the rail/injectors? If there is no fuel in it then that would be a good place to start. Assuming fuel delivery is fine are you getting a spark at the plugs? What state are the plugs in? If that is fine then is the air intake clear of obstruction? What sort of state is the filter in? If the air box is full of leaves and crap then it wont run.

Check those basics first and put some petrol in it.
