Well the title pretty much says it, have you given up posting on the EVO forum for good or just until it speeds up etc ?

Yep, me too, given up for good. I have tried to like it, and tried to go back, but it seems less and less about cars and more about crap.

Prefer it here now.

Me too, I posted on their once in the last 3 days. The speed isn't an issue for me as I'm on a fast connection, but certain individuals are spoiling it for others.
My only problem with this place is you have to watch what you're saying about TVR's.

I`m posting on there less and less.Firstly the speed is very annoying, secondly there seem to be a real clique on there. Some threads seem to be only replied to,if you are in "the club".Maybe I should post on there, saying I`m a girl and have a splendid pair of norks!!!!!!!!

Spiderman, I agree with the clique bit, I always felt like there was this sort of inner circle, and if you aren't in it, your threads are unanswered (or maybe mine are all crap )

But there seems to be none of that here, which is nice!

But the forum has lost its edge from the old days, it is no longer about cars. Maybe this is the influence of Dennis??

Who says your in the circle here

Ive always had that feeling, even though ive been a fairly regular user from the beggining.
Never mind, doesn't stop me from posting anything i want (within reason!)

Everybody seems a nice bunch of car crazy petrol heads (or should that be Piston Heads?) here.

But i still cant give up the evo forum, hell ive been on it for over 3 years!

Well, Evo being a mag, it has attracted a much wider audience than PH has (*wider* to keep polite )

PS: sorry to interfere in your circle

Out of the first 30 posts, only 8 are Car/Evo related (I ignored IMAMUPPET threads as I always do).

The EVO forum is basically for chat and slanging matches - the only time its worth looking at is when the new magazine comes out or a decent EVO prog is on television.

What a bunch of whingers ...

Evo Forum Cliquey? - no more than any other forum I've ever been on and I've been on a goodly few - and nowhere near as cliquey as some of the car-specific forums here...

Whatever tho - 'entry to the club' tends to come from having something interesting to say on a reasonably frequent basis - at least that's what I find...

It's not a 'clique' which isn't replying to you tho - you've more than likely posted something which either has 'no response' or which didn't interest people.

You aren't entitled to a reply - it isn't a 'support group' - you need to make your posts INTERESTING. What I always try to do is be either contentious, play devils advocate, take the piss, throw in anecdotes or whatever I think might work - sometimes it gets me 'noticed' and sparks debate/conversation or whatever - sometimes it doesn't...

I doubt anyone would be interested in just 'my opinion' or in constantly answering my questions - yet I see people who post 'just that' too often...

Oh - there's in IMAMUPPET on every forum too - quite often more than one in fact so I suggest you live with it/ignore it or get off the Net

The lack of 'car content' on the Evo forum varies - but if you don't like the other threads you can just ignore em and there's still about as much 'car talk' there as there is in here. A 100% 'car' forum would be slow going to be honest - and people seem to want a 'constant stream of chatter' on the Evo Forums and so the OT stuff comes in...

As for the speed problems - not been bad of late but it's not 'lightning' by any means...

p.s. A suggestion if I may...

'Evo Exiles' gives an odd 'theme' to a board - it suggests it's temporary or a 'rebellion' or something like that. If you like it here - just call it 'Evo' and give it a theme (discuss the 'thrill of driving' here or whatever) which may attract new readers too.

Currently, it looks like a 'cliquey' rebellion for 'members only'

Ow, I like the sound of being a Rebel!

or an Evo-Exile, reminds me of a dethroned heir to the throne, awaiting the time when he can reclaim his rightful place as ruler of EVO, or maybe a race of great beings cast out of their nirvana, yet again, gathering forces and biding their time till the day they will return to overthrow the IFG demons!

I really should stop reading all those fantasy novels

It's definitely gone downhill of late.

I used to almost dread the thought of spending a few days away from the forum, but now it really doesn't bother me, because I know that when I get back there will be little of interest that I've missed.

I can't quite put my finger on what's causing it, though. Quite a few regulars have disappeared, but have they left because the forum is deteriorating or is it their departure - caused by them having nothing more to say about things evo - that's caused the forum's decline. Or is it the clunky new format that's killing it?

Answers on a postcard...

Cheers,
Ev.

I think we just covered most of the big topics on the old forum - apart from new cars to discuss and new happenings, it's mostly going over old ground on the new forum. I'm much the same, sometimes won't bother for a couple of days and when I do it's usually skimming over to find something particularly interesting.

Format of it, the annoying little things like not remembering who you are half the time, really don't help either. Or the fact it doesn't seem to be up at the moment

I WANT MY TVR BACK

And I thought it was just my $hitty connection from work. The great thing about the old forum was the speed of Snitz. Since the Dennis move its annoying that the emphasis seems to be on popup & flash ads rather than the content.
