Hey all,

I know there are plenty of GranTurismo threads here but I wanted to ask a slightly different question...

I've been going back and forth lately and wanted to get some thoughts from fellow enthusiasts. I'm seriously considering picking up a 2014-17 Maserati GranTurismo with the ZF gearbox, ideally one that's been well looked after with a solid history. The main reason I'm looking is that I want to avoid putting higher miles on my 458, and I'm after something with a similar GT character that I can use more freely.

The GranTurismo seems to fit the bill nicely—Ferrari-derived V8, that incredible exhaust note, and the ZF auto makes it far more usable day-to-day than the older robotised manual cars.

That said, my main concern is around reliability and running costs.I want something I can actually enjoy without constantly worrying about it.

So a couple of questions for the group:

What are people's honest opinions on the GranTurismo (2014-17, ZF box) as a semi-daily? Anyone living with one regularly and how's it holding up?

And for a well-kept, properly serviced example—what's the reliability actually like? I'm aware Italian GT cars have a reputation, but I'd love to hear from owners on what genuinely tends to go wrong versus what's just internet noise. Any specific things to look out for in particular?

Appreciate any input from those who've owned or are currently running one.

Cheers

If you get a later one does it mean you avoid the £790 VED?

I ran a Gransport - it was fine if I was actually using it, a sentiment echoed by the GT owners in the Maserati Club at the time. I found the GT a bit too big and heavy when I testdrove one - bigger and heavier than my V70.

Have a look on the sportsmaserati forum - loads of woners and knowledge on there.

I run a 2011 auto as a daily.

The auto box is very good, the engine fabulous.

Reliability doesn't seem to be an issue bar

They don't like low battery, very sensitive to voltage
Parking sensors don't like the winter the spring back to life in the summer
Abs sensors fail and are captive part of the hub. New hub circa £750 plus fitting

I think you'll like it
