My new car..............2005 Monaro 5.7 LS1.

Bought this Monaro this week and have been giving it a good clean today. Vauxhall Monaro 2005 CV8 5.7 LS1 with 36K on the clock.I just love the V8 rumble.

What sort of returns are you expecting on a day to day run mate? With a car like that it would be a shame to only use it on rare occasions so I assume it will be a DD!

MPG is not good but it is a 'hobby car' rather than a DD. Generally 15mpg mostly taking it easy, but i have seen 32mpg on the computer at a steady 70mph in 6th, showing around 1800 rpm. If you're worried about mpg, then don't get one!

For the engine size yes i think it's reasonable too. I've owned a few quick cars including Evo V, Evo VII FQ300, Evo VIII, E39 M5, Subaru WRX PPP, Escort Cosworth, 2WD saff cos, 4WD saff cos, R1 engined kit car Mac #1 Motorsport, Civic type Rs, Accord type R, S2000, Audi TT Quattro, Clio V6 and loads others.
Also enjoy litre sportsbikes and have had a couple of R1s, a GSXR 1000 but currently have a Honda CBR 1000RR.
I think i might be a petrol head!

I use mine as a DD once the ice an salts off the road and I was averaging 11mpg but since I stopped over taking everyone to an from work I'm averaging 21mpg which ain't too bad at all considering me mate with a civic type r is only mid 20's.

Car looks great mate. Just reminded me I still havnt put pictures of mine up yet!

Now into week 2 of ownership.... just started getting more than 12-15mpg as a daily driver. Lol. But it managed 24 on the way down to Le mans.

Cracking cars. Loving every minute of mine.

Obviously i don't mine that spoiler, but was wondering where it came from?( as in supplier). Quality is excellent and it has a clear LED brake light which has made in New Zealand on the lens and the spoiler is stamped with a part number with made in Austria underneath.

I believe it is an oem Holden spoiler. It was one of the options you could have.

But I'm sure that someone with greater knowledge than me will soon come and put you straight.

gto spoiler I believe as supplied by monkfish, i've got one on mine and still not convinced by it 3 years after putting it on, least I put it on a spare bootlid so can easy revert if I cant stand it any longer.

Id love to be brave enough. A few decent examples starting to appear for circa £10k and they just seem so so much for the cash but mine would be a 40 mile road trip DD (20 miles on poor fenland roads) so dont think I could justify the fuel and then the spiralling into a ditch costs.
