New Monaro Owner
Discussion
As said before i'm picking up my 06 monaro vxr on wednesday morning and i asked a few upgrade questions, thanks for the replies guys...though some idiot had a go at me as if i was a wee boy then read his profile and he drove a bloody astra lol My dad owns his own garage and has an extensive knowledge of american cars as himself and my brother own 6 yanks between them...repairs and servicing etc wont be an issue but after the upgrades are started that is where we will struggle i.e remaps, purchasing upgrades etc...Does anyone know if there are american equivalent upgrades for this car as it is an american engine in it...also how much will getting the car to be aroung 550 bhp cost...
1) if money isn't a problem i.e for me...or
2) whem my brother gets one also he will have a limited upgrade budget...

suppose we will have to organise a party for the end of the footy season for when rangers and motherwell finish 1st and 2nd respectively lol...how many monaro owners are up here anyway in our area...i've only seen 1 more and its he guy from onboard learner drivers who has a vxr8 in larkhall
My brother will have roughly £2500-£3000 spare after he buys his car is this enough or is he pi**ing into the wind lol...
What is a safe bhp to go to before the internals need upgraded also...as i said before i come from a yank background mustangs mostly and their internals are usually sound up to just under 600bhp...
The wortec dual sound exhaust seems to be the most common exhaust upgrade used but are there any decent equivalents...or would u recommend a total custom stainless steel unit...

Araf i'm getting mine on wednesday...my brother is getting one mid december sorry for the confusion lol...
my brother may only go for the 5.7 04 plate though he is saving like mad to try and get the vxr though
With you now. IIRC, that one from Toomeys is rather expensive, at the list price - so I hope you got something off it.my brother may only go for the 5.7 04 plate though he is saving like mad to try and get the vxr though
As you're north of the border, most use AAS in Newcastle for their mods. There's a Scottish meet, most months. Look for threads "calling clan members"
Have a good drive home.

Hi that's a really nice car I almost bought it but was a little out of my budget.
It's already got the Wortec exhaust with electric switching, as I pointed out to dealer where the switch was!!
They didn't know.
Hope you got a few quid off, and they were going to repaint the calipers as paint is peeling a bit.
Anyway I've put my deposit on one and if the road test on Thursday proves ok will be coming home with me.
Any things you guys think I should look out in particular? I've seen car and it's the best i've seen, but not driven it yet.
It's 07 6.0 Monaro done 36k with Wortec cat back, ripshift,bushes,quick rack,lowered suspension 15mm.
Counting down the days

yes i got it down to 14750 with six months road tax and a years mot...yes there is plenty of cheaper ones but as this is my first monaro i felt that the years guarantee was worth paying that little bit extra...good to know that it has the wortec exhaust though... where is the electronic switch so that i can look out for it...thanks...also my dad and step dad both own their own mechanics businesses so i will make a good saving there lol
