Monaro information

[Lee v8]

Hi having only just bought my first monaro and my first v8 I have to say as predicted it does put a huge smile on my face every time I turn the key, however anything other than a perfect road surface the car wonders all over the road is this normal or should I start looking for a fault. Any advice would be appreciated.

My Monaro was doing the same, but that was just a slow puncture in my case.

Is it leaving big black number 11s behind you?

Seriously, come over to the Monaro / HSV section and someone will help you.

In the mean time, are the rears both the same, have some tread left and are inflated correctly (35psi or so)?

Could also be the tie rod ends, cheap fix.

^ just to add, check tyres for uneven wear as it could be tracking. £15 fix... Or splash out and get 4 wheel alignment.

My bad it's an LS2 VXR.
In which case it's a very tyre sensitive car on the 19's.
Anything cheap or with soft walls will give you big problems.
If they have Falkens written on them its that......

Check track rod ends (common for these to fail) and check rack Inner ball joints for wear) or play/wear is also common in the rack bushes (packing from the rack to the body)

when these cars were new many of us took them to Monkfish for a handling pack - check it out on their web site - it cures exactly the kind of problems you are experiencing
If the last owner has swapped the tyres round (rear to front) that can also upset the handling as the tyres wear quite differently at both ends of the car

As mentioned, crappy tyres = a crappy ride on the Monaros

If you're anywhere near another member, they may be able to take a look for you, they actually handle quite nicely when on form, so something is afoot.

Also wheel alignment needs to be bang on with a Monaro.

Cheers guys I'll check tyre pressure and having checked the make of tyre on the rear I think the last owner fitted ditch finders so a few tasty donuts should get rid of them. The road handling kits from monkfish are they worth fitting?

start with tyres and wheel alinement, good prices on MPSS at the mo, see other thread, still not cheap but the best. then add MF handing mods
