Death to FI. Phase 1
Discussion
Santa has arrived early. Thanks Brent @ Nook and Tranny..
100% fully custom spec comp cam. (Done with a comp lobe catalog and a bit of DYOR)
My first non off the shelf grind. Not overly adventurous, but should be 20-30rwhp extra. Designed for more top end and grab that extra 3mph at TR and take out the girly stuff that needs FI, cams, methanol, uprated pulley's etc, etc

Doesn't matter how sharp the knife is when you're at a gunfight
Already well ahead of a number of FI vxr8's currently sitting at number 3 in the list We will see how we go next year..
We will see
Its more for me to experiment actually. Ive run 2 cams already in the current engine, this is the third. The difference between the other 2 was quite noticeable.
This current one is broader in power and less peaky. Last one was peaky with more midrange torque.
This one is suppose to be a bit of both and a bit larger too. Not too fussed where I end up, but it will make sure people think about things at least before turning up with an out of the box effort expecting it to perform.

A quick google...actually an interesting article.

The SR is a slightly bigger profile, but really does show a marked improvement at the top end.

Not really a valid test as they changed lift and duration as well as lifters..
Not sure what that tells us except larger cams move power rpm range up..
The cam I have is around 650 lift anyway, Though only a girly 234 duration. However I suspect the intake is going to be pretty well out of huff with that cam at high rpm.
Comp do special low pump HR with about 0.020 hydraulic take up so if they collapse there is no issue. They need longer push rods, but are lighter as well.
They are also DLC coated.

Brummie revved his pretty high didnt he ?
Was he hydraulic or solid ?
I agree it probably isnt fair test because the CR had a bigger profile. It would have been interesting to do a similar profile, just to see if the SR have better valvetrain stability which would have led to any gains, or if there really isnt any difference between the two
