How loud is your 3" difilippo exhaust?

Have you ever had the sound level checked?

Not super loud but put it this way, it can turn heads for 50yds in both directions at WOT. It's not raspy, just sounds evil! I'll try to record it for you but bear in mind if you need to change it to fit your car it will sound different.

I'm very fussy about this sort of thing and to me the quality of the noise is more important than the volume and I don't think I'd change it at all.

Assuming your talking the 'normal' 3" DF system. Mine comes in under 105db for track events etc.

cheers for the info both of you.

A video would be great.

I picked up a used 3" system but its for an 05 so i plan to cut one leg and reroute but the supplied rear boxes won't fit. So i was wondering how much louder the car would be with smaller rear boxes.

105dB is about as loud as i want it, so will have to try and squeeze the a pair of big oval boxes in the there

I'd just fit a big flowmaster box in the back.

Defillipo systems do sound nice even with no cats or middle boxes.;)

Im looking into flowmaster aswell. Just need to properly get underneath it and take some measurements to see what will fit

I'm amazed they're so quiet - my 04 CV8 2.5" AAS/Wortec system with middle and rear silencers is ~116dB (admittedly running zero cell cats...).

No middle boxes?
Do like the balance of the DF system. Not too loud with no droning but makes the right noises when on it.
Although my Audi on a Miltek system is louder now which has me conflicted...

Middle boxes do make a difference for sure.

But comparing a couple of local cars, both CV8's the DF is much quieter than Wortec even with same number of boxes.

Of course I'm sure age will also play a part, as boxes will tend to get louder over time as the wadding either dies or gets blown out

Removal of cats made a nice difference and I'm sure the cam does too. Lots of exhaust lift and duration = lots of lovely exhaust gas!
