The purple to the purple and the black to black. Otherwise you end up with a 4cyl engine.

Actually I was shocked it ran!!!! Sorted out my mistake and it's all good. Car is running again. New charger belt and I can work on retuning it again. I think I missed the memo to take the car off the road in the winter and enjoy it in the summer.

What connector is that? Was it running on just one bank, or alternative cylinders?

It was my drivers side coil pack.

I used some me generic wire to extend the loom for my relocation. But I got it wrong!

So it was one bank down.

Not yet. Will do once it's all done. But the extensions probably are fine. But I can solder!

Need to sort some last bits on the engine bay and then tidy it all up.

need to clean my drivers side leads after oil went everywhere. Dumb oil stick not fully seated!

I've only done one bank, and even then the coil pack holder is just cable-tied in.

I was under the impression solder was bad in the engine bay (heat cycles can cause bad joins), that's why I went with simple extensions. Whether in reality you are likely to see a problem I don't know.

Previous shoulders have been fine on my ls1 packs. So I'm sure it will be ok. Time will tell.
