04 Monaro 5.7 LS1 VXR has a strange fault with eng man light

It comes on all the time while driving, no fault codes stored on basic OBD reader, car drives absolutely fine and not in limp mode, has full power.

light comes on every 10 / 15 secs while driving. now realised its because or engine rev changes. if you start car and don't even drive it and just rev it to 2k rpm or more that triggers the eng man light and buzzer. but at low revs no man light on. any ideas please - leads ?

Thx JB

Clock spring?

I know a few other electrical gremlins have been attributed to it.

Here you go - though after reading the two threads on it, I'm not so sure.

I wonder if it could be an exhaust O2 sensor that is loose or with a bad connection.

That was my first guess, but zero confidence so didn't post.

James, given how many Holdens you see, I'd talk to Richard Ingram and acquire something to give you decent engine data and DTCs - much less guesswork.

Have had monaro 02 sensors give the EML warning before but not by just revving over 2 rpm at standstill confused

I had an O2 sensor give these sort of symptoms, in so far as the 'Check Engine' would flash up seemingly randomly once driving and fairly regularly.

Was one of the post cat sensors that had snuffed it, I checked with EFI Live. Car performed completely normally.
