Hi Guys.

My VXR8 with 3" wortec is booked in for an MOT tomorrow. Has anyone had issues with non standard ref noise levels, concerned may not pass due to the loudness of it biggrin

Can't fail it on noise as long as it's not blowing. All Wortecs / WP exhausts pass for me as long as have working cats fitted. Even had one with no rear boxes passed

Technically you can fail on noise but it only tends to come up if the testers a knob
Biggest issue is normally emissions as the cats need to be virtually glowing to get them through & it tends to take some persistence.

They cannot impose a fair mot noise test across the UK due to difficulty in making it the same i.e. at x meter without any other walls / business units to ricochet the sound back in. I think that motorbikes need to have the correct stamp or the "not for road use," buffed off (I would never suggest that). If testers think its a little excessive that can flag it as an advisory anyway.

Having no rev pick up on the ro certainly helps it "pass."

Just under half of the original tread then. They do like to put something in the advisories box. wink

While only half of the original tread there is only 1.4mm to the legal limit smile

I totally agree, and I'll usually be looking to change between 2 & 3mm - but 1.4mm would be over 1500 miles of driving (assuming a tyre life of 10k miles, and about 5000 miles on a car that does 30k miles on its tyres).
