New sequential shifter
Discussion
Not available just yet, but looks nice. These are quite common for Jap vehicles ( well, commonly available, maybe not so much actually used )

Bet that will be a right royal PITA without a visual monitor showing what gear you are in !
Just change gear by ear......For straight blasts on a drag strip or possibly on a track, it could be a good thing, for normal day to day driving, I stick by my above comment that it will be a PITA.
I'll be amazed if anyone on here has never tried to pull away in 3rd or something by mistake.

Wonder how much for this and a set of straight cut gears?
Faceplated, straight cut on the 'street.'
PPG Tremec Sequential: http://youtu.be/-wGS9Fng_4Y
Is anything more manly? Wives and girlfriends will welcome it

Gear design has nothing to do with how they shift.
So there really isnt much need for straight cut gears, especially considering what they would cost.
From what I gather, there will be a pot in the mech to output a 0-5v based on gear position. This will allow a gear display to work to tell the driver which gear they are in.
And from what Simon said, it will also allow proper closed loop control of power reduction during shifts ( with appropriate electronics to make it work ). Which is a good thing ( not really applicable to synchro boxes though )
Faceplating and dog engagement are two different systems. Similar driving experience though.
Problem is in order to get a dog engagement, you need a full gearset designed around the setup. £$£$£$£$
The PPG sequential is rather expensive...x2.
The faceplating on the other hand is parts welded onto your own gears and new hubs/sliders so much more affordable.
But yes for a daily driver, sequential would be annoying as you cannot just drop into neutral, or shift across gears. You must always go up/down sequentially.
But with a dog/faceplated setup it should allow very fast shifts with no chance of missing a gear.
With synchro again it would never miss a gear, but shifts would still be relatively slow, that's just limitations within the box itself though.
TBH I'm surprised nobody has come up with it before for the T56.

I'm concentrating more on other things than to worry about listening to what gear i'm in for pulling away at junctions, roundabouts etc.

Tried to pull away in 3rd. It never try's it just does a little slower. In general it's ok. For straight blasts on a drag strip or possibly on a track, it could be a good thing, for normal day to day driving, I stick by my above comment that it will be a PITA.
