Customers cited a number of criteria as critical for the future of Commodore, including: ability to perform in Australian conditions; affordability; external styling; interior space; handling; power, acceleration; towing ability; and offering variants including luxury and sport.
They mentioned power, but no mention of fuel economy. Good thumbuphehe

Take you're point Ian, but I'm not entirely convinced that HSV will still follow the same formula as they have done in the past.
As it now becomes more of a branding exercise, I wouldn't be surprised if HSV ends up with a completely different platform from another GM brand.

Why not? I understand the origins of the 'H' and that the name Holden is still in the official name of the company, but the brand name is HSV, so means squat.

Look at the bottom of www.hsv.com.au and you will find this:

I don't think they will change their business model as a joint venture between Holden and Walky and use a different base for their flagship vehicle.

New commodore is rumoured to be a rebadged insignia isn't it?

I would think that HSV would be rethinking their business model right now.
No Holdens...no HSV.
Tom also had relationships with Jaguar and Ford so I'd be surprised if they didn't diversify now out of necessity.

Doubt that would bother Tom if he was still with us.

There'll still be Holdens, it's just they won't be made in Australia anymore.

It's no different to Vauxhall turning Corsas and Insignias into VXRs. After all, the only Vauxhall car still made in the UK is the Astra.

Gm need to sell cars in aus still so it's not unlikely to be an Holden commodore which is a rebranded insignia or a Holden camaro then Hsv to do a better version. It like Vauxhall being an opel in Europe. Holden are not manufacturing any ore in aus I have not heard Holden as a name is dying.

The name won't die. The smaller Far East Chevy (Daewoo) cars are branded Holden in Oz - and the Astra VXR is an HSV.
