Any one know if they can be taken out without taking the bumber off?
My HID's for OZ have arrived with the built in Ballasts, I've got plenty of access on the passenger side, but none on the drivers side.
Should have checked first as I spent a few minutes fiddling getting the passenger side fitted and working, then realised I couldnt fit the drivers side, so had to take the passenger side back out again !
Must admit, the built in Ballasts are a much nicer bit of kit
I'm waiting for a new loom for the Blind Spot Alert Sensors in the front bumper so if they don't come out without removing the bumper, I'll wait and take it to Neil and do them all at once.

I found the easiest way to do it was to jack the car up at the front wheel, peel back the inner wheel arch liner (there are some plastic clips to remove) then you can get good access to the rear of the bulb enclosure through the wheel arch.
I found that I didn't even need to take the wheel off - simply jacking it up meant that the wheel dropped enough through the travel of the suspension for me to get my hands in peel back the inner arch liner to gain access, but you can remove the front wheel if you like.

Shame they don't do HIDs with the built in Ballasts for the Monaro
Not that I've seen the screw cap of a Monaro head light for a few years now, if you are near a VXR8 owner, you could compare to see if they are compatible.
The caps only have 3 lugs that you line up and then twist, if these are in the right position, there should be no reason why they wont fit.
Are you local to Westcliff-On-Sea? could always pop round for a trail fit as I doubt I'll be fitting mine for a few weeks yet.

I will have a look on mine to see if there is 3 lugs for a start.
Unfortunately not but thanks for the offer

Will be interesting to see what they say, but I have a feeling they will just say no without giving it any thought.
Meassure up the distance between the lugs on the back of your Monaro head light cap and I can check them against mine, see if they are even in the same ball park.
Be worth getting the size of the cap across as well, just in cast the lugs are the same distance but the caps are different sizes !

I've had a reply back from them and just need to confirm if the cap with built in ballast will fit then they will look into getting the supplier to make a H11 HID kit for the Monaro.Meassure up the distance between the lugs on the back of your Monaro head light cap and I can check them against mine, see if they are even in the same ball park.

Hi mate, just compared the sizes above and the GTS / R8 caps are smaller than the Monaro ones by about 20mm, they are only 65mm across so you will need to find some Monaro Specific fitment jobbies, sorry
Does that mean the whole GTS/R8 built in ballast would just fit inside the monaro cap and be put back on
