Hi all,

Some of you may have seen my previous post where one of my problems was an exhaust rattle - turned out to be the bimodal actuator arms on the back boxes and also the cats, so had her decatted and centre box removed - sounds epic but too much for everyday use and I thought the quiet switch was making little difference..

Had a quick poke underneath and found the actuators arent moving anymore when I push the switch! Moved the arms manually and made a good difference to the noise level!

Assuming this has been broken/disconnected by the guys that did the decat - before I go back to them or incase its an easy fix - what should I be looking for? I know it works on exhaust pressure, but how?! Would the decat have affected the required pressure in some way??

Cheers

First check would be to see if you are getting any power to the rear silencer plugs, if you are, sounds like the valves are either jamming/broke, or, if there's no power, during the exhaust fettle, the wiring loom has been damaged somewhere.

2nd that system on Walky bimodal was vacuum on my 2009 vxr8, I had lost actuation and found vacuum tubing approx 10" from actuator holed, bought some joining pieces and some new hose and fixed all ok.

If you've got a switch, I can't see it still being a vacuum activated system.

Mine was on the GTS until I had a switch fitted, it's now either valves open or valves closed !

It's because Ian's E3 GTS bi modal was ECU controlled but we fitted a manual switch to it

As Ian said, check the short rubber vacuum pipes have not perished or split

So do I, that's why Tim made me up a bespoke wiring loom and fitted a switch inside the cabin, it's never been off loud since biggrin

So I've had a better look now, the blue.pipes go from the actuators to a control box.behind.the rear bumper. A single blue pipe and electrical wires then head off from this box to..

Anyone.know where this blue pipe goes?! Obviously the wires head.to the switch and a power spur most likely. Hopefully someone has been here before, the piping I can see looks unperished, so before I start pulling panels off I hoped.someone would know where the piping starts?!

With The factory Bi modal the flaps are open on start up and idle

Yes, but they shut too quick and are virtually closed when cruising, not much fun frown

I may just blank the pipes of so that they are open all the time

Shame your not closer to WPUK, Tim knocked me up a wiring loom and neatly fitted a switch inside the cabin, best of both worlds at a push of a button smile
