Brake warning light.

Had my brake warning light come on this morning. Last time this happened a brake banjo had come loose and I was loosing fluid.
No sign of that.
Are the pads fitted with a sensor that tells you when the pads are low? If they are how long can you drive like this before the pads are completely gone? Reason I ask is I'm booked in for a service brake pad change and to get my tracking looked on March the 23rd at Monkfish.

No wear indicators, that I can remember. However, as the pads wear, the fluid level in the reservoir falls, and could trigger the warning light. What is the fluid level in the reservoir?

Brake fluid is low, had another look at the wheels front passenger is covered with fluid!Looks like I'll be doing a bit of spannering.

Wash the wheel thoroughly then, or the brake fluid will remove the paint.

Gave it a bit of a clean but it needs refurbing anyway.
