Hello the vxr8 has a TVS supercharger and it's going in for headers and sports cats in May to go with the Wortec. I'm wondering because I live far away from monkfish who has mapped the car, is it possible for any local turner to remove the limiter without disturbing the map in any way? It gets to 158mph pretty fast and then nothing, sort of loses power and acts a bit funny if you get me. Also what top speed have people managed to get with the limiter removed? Cheers

No idea on the mapping. For top speeds check the thunder road threads which give mid 170s....... For now! wink

On standard injectors and fuel pump, 174 is where you hit the brick wall.

Is that it?

Standard non-S/C vxr8 gets to 170mph no problem. Hits the rev limiter at that speed in 5th, though.

Yeah I thought it would of went faster top end tbh. I haven't got a upgraded fuel pump, would this make a difference?

And does anyone know if a local tuner could remove the limiter?

The map and speed limiter are separate. Provided the ECU is not locked, someone else could remove the limiter.

no they can't unless they have hptuners and monkifsh haven't locked the ecu (lets not start that debate though!)

As far as I'm aware, Monkfish don't lock them, and neither do Walkinshaw.

The VXR8 limiter is in more than one location, so it may be best to wait for your next trip to MK.

It's over 7k revs that killed one's engine once and not the limiter wink although I later discovered what might have contributed to this in the mapping, but it has been corrected now and made safe smile

Nice cars but shaped like a brick for high speed.

I think it's gearing, too. Runs out of revs in 5th with enough power, but lacks power in the tall 6th.

Spot on.............At thunder road last year I hit 167 on the rev limiter in 5th(standard gearing)

Doesn't matter how much power you have (within reason). Its max rpm in 5th that is you max speed. Ie, 170ish. Unless you tinker with gearing, your not going faster.

I realize that, I was however hoping that a S/C VXR8 has got enough power to carry on in 6th.
