AP brakes dragging maybe?

I would appreciate pointing in the right direction please.
My Monaro VXR had AP brakes fitted 3 years or so ago. It is used two or three times every week and the mileage since fitting must be around 7k - 8k. When driving slowly there is a low down squeeking noise (not the usual high pitched brake squeal) which comes and goes as the wheels rotate - each wheel rotation has a quiet period and a noisy one. At moderate to high speed and when braking the noise disappears. The noise comes from the rear and after a recent 20 mile drive one of the rear discs was hot but touchable and the other was noticeably cooler.
I wondered if anyone else had experienced this and whether its likely to be a sticking caliper or could the disc be warped or out of alignment? Or anything else??? I should add that this car is never driven hard.

Aside from handbrake skids etc...I've never understood why people do that.
Loads do though...yanking it on wayyy before they've come to a stop.
Thing with the Monaro is you can't pull it on a bit, soon as the shoes bite it grabs the drum and locks up solid. I once needed to loose speed without the......ahem......car in the middle lane seeing brake lights.Loads do though...yanking it on wayyy before they've come to a stop.

Hi Ian, depends which caliper and disc combo you have, if they are race bells and rotors and only used for the road they start to stick on the floating bobbins not all but a few, this then just makes them run slightly off true when not braking at slow speeds, plus the pistons start to stick in the calipers as they dont have dirt seals like a road caliper and depending which pad compound you have they dont like driving like miss daisy for long.Time to pull the wheels off and strip and lube everything

Like Jezz says, "you only do it once" I have never owned a car that has a hand brake that locks like this, no matter how slow you pull it up when moving, no matter what speed you are doing, it will instantly lock the rears Like Em says, you only do it once
