Hi guys, used to be on here a lot more but haven't been on for ages and had to re sign up to PH. Wondered if in the last couple of years anyone has taken on putting an LS9 into an R8? I have looked into this and can see that I would need to fabricate and locate an oil tank and possibly a different coolant tank. From what I can see the wiring would be plug and play, a map would be needed I know but apart from these couple of things I cant see any reason she wouldn't fit, any thoughts or ideas welcome. Cheers

No need, they are bloody expensive and you can get more power through other means. E.g. my Monaro has a forged LSA with a TVS2300 which benefits from all the LS9 features inc the piston squirters. Plenty of 750hp R8s on here and if you have a manual LS3, simply go for a TVS heartbeat supercharger which is a better unit than the LS9's blower as it doesn't have to deal with the compromised packaging of the Corvette's reduced bonnet clearance and reduced intercooler capacity.

As above. ^^

I can't see the point of trying to dry sump an R8, but can see the attraction of a forged engine. How much trouble is it to convert the LS9 to a sump, or just go LSX, smile

LS9 will have been GM scuff tested for reliability with optimum clearances, long term. Just a thought to consider.
