I recently had to install a 3.45 diff instead of a 3.9 so now my speedo is out.

I have HP tuners but the tune currently installed is from EFI Live so I cannot edit it.

I am not very familiar with EFI, short of buying the whole package for like £500 is there an easier way?

Cheers,
Ollie

You can download the software for free to have a play with and look at some existing tunes if that would be of any help?

There's a fair few people on here that use it, and ringram, who no longer posts here, is the UK distributor / re-seller / representative (something like that thumbup ) for them, so he knows a lot about it hehe

Is it a custom OS or something?

I bet Richard Ingram will help you - it will probably cost you at least a license (£70?), but then at least you can use the EFI live software freely to copy the tables into a hptuners file.

Yes I believe it does have a custom OS.

If I could get it to the stage of copying the data to HP tuners that would be fantastic!

I would love to see what sort of fueling it has because it smells pretty rich.

What lead from the car to the computer do you recommend for Efilive.

If its not a custom operating system, you should be able to download and edit the tune providing its not been locked.

If you really can't manage an edit in HPT, I can do it for you, but it would cost you an efilive license to do the flash. (PS I also have HPT)

You have to use the one from efilive which comes as part of the kit.

When I got the error in HPT that it could not be read I sent it off to them and they replied saying it was a custom OS.

I would be happy with buying a EFI license if it meant being able to then transfer the tune to HPT, its about £70 isn't it? Better than the $700 quoted from EFI!

I assume I would need to visit you with the OBD2 module for EFI?

The $700 should include a flashscan v2 I would have thought - these are highly desirable used, so if you think you might want a play with one you'll sell it after no bother. That said, if you've already got HPtuners then why bother?

I can do this for you, I can get the license from Rich. You only need to bring your car. There are quite a few around the UK with Efilive who could do this for you.

Surely HPT can wipe the tune/is and start again?

If so you can read the tune out on EFI for free to get the tune info.

Or can HPT not wipe an OS?

I should be getting EFILive in the next few weeks so can sort you out if you just get a license if nowt else works.

Can VX not just reflash the firmware back to standard if worst comes to worst?

Will EFI live read a tune without a license for the ECU? Good to know if so.

Yes it will read with no licence. You only need it to write.

I'm 98% certain.

Sounds like Zed is on to a winner then, just needs to hook up with someone with a flashscan. I'd do it, but I'm SW...

One word of caution. Efilive and HPT have anomalies in that both can pick up certain of the ECU map tables that the other cannot, as far as I remember. Plus, not all of the GM tune tables is available to read/modify. (Probably obscure stuff on the margins of need though)

But worth a go to download tables with one and then transpose. That is a hell of a lot of work though, so should keep you busy for a while.

I bet most of the tables are untouched, but yeah, a bit of concerted triple-checking required...especially for units, lambda vs. EQ, etc.

Sorry took a while to reply, went to stag do and became basically illiterate for several days!

So, scanning is at least a good start and then the possibility of transposing the data to HPT after.

I guess the question is whoever is kind enough to help me lives the closest? I am in Surrey.
