Hello all any suggestions to above please , it's so bad I don't use it , I hope it's not a stereo out job , I assume if stereo is working then aerial is plugged in , are there any joints in the aerial lead and if so where , cheers in advance for any replies

Does the VXR8 have an amplified aerial?

My old car model was notorious for poor reception when the rubber seal around the base of the aerial cracked and allowed water in. Only option was to drop the headlining to change it. Hopefully it's something simpler on your car.

Best bet to go to a competent audio place/ auto electrician for a check over.

I have exactly the same problem, on auto scan it picks up 1 station where I live in The Camberley area. Don't even both with it anymore, CD or windows down

Try changing the setting "Seek Sens" to distance rather than local or auto - seems to make a big difference when scanning for stations.

Odd, isn't it. The technology in the VXR8 is much more modern than in the Monaro, yet it's the Monaro owners who insist VXR8 owners are old and therefore not abreast of modern times. scratchchin

Maybe the Luddites in their Monaro shaped glass houses should stop throwing stones. hehe

Araf , Ian , you are good at finding these things out , I tried the website on how many left but does not seem to help , do you have an idea of how many maloo's or Utes in the UK ?
I've changed the setting to distant but to be honest taking roof lining down appears too much of a big job to do plus risk of braking things

I can never get my head around the figures for them. According to the site, there's 189 Holdens in total. This will include any that have been brought over with people moving to the UK - including the odd Astra, Barina and Colorado (all for sale at the moment).

The problem is, as so many are private imports, they aren't always described properly for DVLA.

The figures for yours are that there are only 2 - but then they say that it's a Maloo GTS, so go figure.

I think the old Monkfish one was registered in Q3 or 2008 from the spike in the chart, but there's nothing for yours in late 2009/early 2010, so I can only guess that yours is among the Holden 'model missing' figure.

Hi Ian , No prob cheers for that , I found it confusing too and no real way of knowing the figures if not recorded properly by the Dvla , even mine registered with the Dvla is not what or how I would record it as you can't just find it under Holden

What does yours say on the logbook?

When you see that there's no HSV as a manufacturer, but Maloo as a model (that Holden have never made), then you realise how messed up the system is, where Aussie cars are concerned.

Back with your radio problem, you do still have the mast on the roof, don't you? Ours went missing at Monkfish. When I rang to say it had gone missing in their care, they told me that they remove them while the cars are there (so they don't go walkabout), and it should have been on the passenger seat. I found it underneath. smile

I could not even find it on the Dvla site to check tax or mot , I had to contact them as to how the Dvla listed the car , and no model is shown for it , they would not change it either , and yes aerial is still there but relying on CD player maybe it's a Australian tuning thing v UK tuning thing it works in the garage lol

Chris,
The Aussie FM Frequency Band looks the same as the UK, so in theory the radio should scan across the same band in the UK as it would in Aus, I have a mate who is into all things radio and will ask him if there are likely to be any differences in the way radios scan, i.e do they scan in Mhz steps or do they sweep the full band.

Hope you get it sorted thumbup

The main problem is lack of reception it hardly picks up any decent signals , the Monaro one is spot on, this one I've always used cds which is a shame ,
