Does anyone know where I can get a plate to fit the recess on the front of a VXR Monaro. Have looked on Craig's plates but it's not giving me the size option I need.

Thanks
Denis

Demon Plates are pretty good. But you need to call them to order non-standard plate sizes - can't order them on the site.

You could see if you can get somewhere local to print motorbike sized font on a full-size plate, then cut it down yourself - that's what I did.

I got mine from fancy plates iirc you need to look for 3/4 sized.

Thanks for the responses. The shortest Demon plates said they could do was 410 mm

I found a place called custom plates that do various sizes but had closed by time I had chance to called so will try them tomorrow.

I ordered new plates from Demon Plates on Monday, they are 380mm wide x 112mm high.

How many characters are in your registration mark? My registration mark is 5 characters long, if it were any longer they would not fit on a plate this size. Perhaps this is why Demon Plates won't make the plate you want?

This is why they say they can't do the correct length for you. You'll have to ask for motorcycle sized letters, in order to fit the plate. It is allowed on low volume import cars.

It is only alowed if there is no space for a full sized number plate.

This is mainly for the grey imports whos rear plate appature was too small for a full size uk plate.

I looked into this my self.

Sure you could argue that the number plate section on the front of a VXR Ro isn't very wide. An a full size plate will dangle past it and flap about a bit.

There was just a thread on this in SP&L... here's the legislation, you just hope not to argue with some miserable bd about the definition of 'precludes'.

Not sure about your E2, but the VE certainly doesn't have enough room for a full sized plate in the front recess. It has been mentioned on here a few times before, and there is at least one link to the legislation.

I have a front plate to suit the VXR8 front aperture, with "motorbike" font.

Got mine from http://www.myshowplates.com/ in 16" x 4.5". This height allows text that meets the regs. I got them to bias the text to one side : 11mm from the edge : to allow me to trim an inch off when I received it - giving me a 15"x4.5" that works great. Cut with a tile saw, then rubbed with a sanding block.

It meets all the regs for imports - as discussed with a rather grumpy traffic cop one day (I keep a copy of the regs in the car just in case!)

Mine beside a full-size front plate. Smaller, but not immediately "please pull me over" smaller......
