Finally enjoying driving the VT2
Discussion
An odd title, considering just how long it's been since I first saw it on eBay.
Trouble is that, with it being one of a dozen 'projects', I hadn't devoted enough time to getting it to drive properly. The last trip to Monkfish sorted out the remaining problems, after which it sat on my drive gathering cobwebs.
I've recently had the time to take it for a spin (or two) and have been delighted to rediscover the joys of running round in a V8 powered Holden (okay HSV). Bear in mind that while I've got lots of V8 bits and a dragster, the last time I ran my Monaro on the road was years ago. Since then, most of my motoring has been in a VW Phaeton and a Vauxhall Zafira.
Maybe I'm old enough to have regressed back into my childhood, as I now take great pleasure in blipping the throttle at every opportuinity or chasing BMW 530d drivers daft enough to think diesels really are quicker. Maybe I'll start getting spots again soon. Funny how a fifteen year old motor can light your fire...
So the time really has come for me to focus on the other two Monaros which are awaiting saving. Trouble is the journey for VT2 #16 is hardly over. Sure the mechanical bits are working properly now. The bodywork needs smartening up now (not by much) and I'd still like to refurb those wheels. If I keep it, I know I won't get cracking on the other cars, though.
But then again, I am finally enjoying driving it
