After my seat belt failed yesterday I found a local company that makes and repairs seat belts. Took it to see them today and the spring mechanism had failed. Part I needed no longer available from monkfish. So they found a mechanism that would fit. Then said what colour belt I would like or do you want to reuse old belt. Of course I wanted a different colour so have changed the front belts to Porsche red belts. Took me about 2 hours with a flat head, and Philips screw driver and a 19mm spanner along with a star head socket to remove and refit panels whilst they made the belts up as I went.

Picture of results

Total cost £110 plus two hours of my time for both front belts. I will do the rears another time as not sure how to get to them.

No longer available part £147

Chuffed not only with myself for taking stuff apart and putting back together successfully, but with the costs and how awesome it looks.

Looks good, and I would have probably gone red too smile

Can you share the part number for the bit you fitted?

No part number as they made it on the spot. I think they used a Mercedes spring mechanism because it had the correct sized bolt

Company calls FDTS LTD in west byfleet. Web site not great, service amazing. 3 ladies making up belts for normal, classic, historic and aviation. Could not be more helpful
