Not the most exciting thread ever but........Just been out and put some power to the VXR8 for the first time since December, she's been somewhat neglected this year and needs a good yet wash and polish but hopefully will be looking good for going on a stag weekend on Friday. Missed the silliness of driving her around so will be good to bet back behind the wheel.

I never leave my Monaro for more than 3-4 months max, what prep do you do before you leave it?

I always get paranoid that something will go wrong if it sits too long!

Don't do what I did when I had my Ro, and think it'd be a good idea to store it in an unheated steel container over winter! Battery went after a few weeks, things under the bonnet started to go rusty, and the power steering cooler went pop.

To be totally honest.....I parked it up and locked it and then left it there!

Exactly the same as Vauxhall did, when the last batch of VXR8s arrived. Our old one was built in October 2008, but not registered until September 2009.

I don't think any motor does very well left for long periods unless it's in a heated dry garage, damp is a killer of a lot of cheap metals, they corrode very easily.

Last winter I filled the fuel tank, parked it in the garage, left the windows open a crack and put it on a trickle charger.

Seemed to be fine.

Will be ok if dry, but a garage that is the slightest bit damp could cause problems, a big massive garage like Elite's is perfect smile if James had some room in there I would ask if I could rent a bit for the winter smile

If you are in the West Sussex area try Jordan's car storage. He's very reasonable and has hundreds of truly gorgeous cars in storage. Takes great care of them too.

Mine's left for long periods in a dry garage, locked with a trickle charger and has never missed a beat. She's not so much as a spec of rust, issues under the hood or MOT problems either. But the "dry garage" bit I think is key. It's never even slightly damp... she's also under a cotton cover.

That's not a bad price at all
