Any advice on fitting that heat shield would be appreciated. The holes don't seem to line up with anything...It's late though and low light so I've not had a massive amount of time to take a good look.

You need to place the shield in situ and mark the holes then drill them. Use self tappers to make hole to secure. It's a bit awkward but once all together it's snug and fits good.

I'll be hones, I was worried you were going to say that. I hate drilling into a car panel.

I'd be tempted to use rivnuts or rubber well nuts.
