So I installed my HIDs yesterday. Now oddly my sidelights seem to be stuck on regardless of what I set the switch to they illuminate. It was fine when I first installed them had no issues. Didn't have any lights on that shouldn't be.

Parked up last night everything off. Today, sidelights on and battery dead.

I have had to pull a fuse to get them to shut off. Seems rather strange, pulling the fuse for either side turns both sides off as well.

Just no idea where I could have gone wrong here. It's literally just a case of screw bulbs in, attach 2 wires. Didn't even touch the side lights.

So anyone got any ideas here before I pull the entire lot out again? Did this before and I got the kit swapped. Doing the exact same thing. An it's the kit everyone on here recommended.

Sounds like you know the answer - disconnect the HIDs and see if the problem remains.

Those kits are constantly evolving, my version had connectors too large to go through the necessary holes. Bulbs can do some weird things, like IIRC some LED bulbs in the tail lights (or number plate lights?) will disable the cruise control!

Got the car fired up again. One of the HIDs is out, which I am guessing has caused the error.

Pulled the fuse for now as its raining and I don't fancy getting the bumper etc off now to get to the ballast. So will leave it for a few days. or have a look tomorrow if the weather improves.

Seems a bit strange. Parked up, an both headlights were working. Rather an odd one really. Not like there is much to go wrong with these kits. Just check the connections tomorrow.

Bumper off? You must have hidden the ballasts well! Can't you just disconnect at the bulb?

Could well be that until you disconnect the HIDs your sidelights will misbehave - where you go from there if you manage to prove this I don't know!

Does the headlamp switch directly send current to the sidelights/headlights, or does the switch connect into the BCM (or some other control module) which then does the work?

It could be Thomas that the HIDs have fried something in said module - I believe that HID kits can have quite a high inrush current at startup, especially the cheap stuff that swamps the market.

Removed it an there's another issue now. As I have barely driven the car in the dark recently. It could be related, not draining battery now. However, when I switch on the high beams. It turns off the dipped and sidelight on the same side the hid was out.

So was going to check all fuses and relays etc.

Agreed, you see that a lot on rear light clusters with various lights going on or off when they brake
