Anyone run any sort of extra cooling with their superchargers? Mine's running the Harrop 122 and today I had it on the Dyno for a few runs and the heat coming off was quite a lot lol even with the bonnet open and fans going (was like going on holiday and when you step off the plane the heat hits you) was pretty warm up our end today also so may have made a difference, how much I wouldn't know, the figures quoted for my Carbon Edition is 600hp & 600lb/ft and it ran 540hp & 540 lb/ft (drives great so not fussed on numbers as I don't go the pub lol don't need the bragging rights haha). So was wondering what people do about cooling as I assume the Harrop is charge cooled and I can't see an intercooler in say the front bumper, or saying that there is a small cooler behind the front grill but looks pretty small, too small be an intercooler (maybe I'm wrong I'm not that clued up with my 8 yet only had it a few months so not sure what it is)

Was looking at the meth injection kits or running a bigger intercooler if possible just don't want it running too hot (i know it's hotter in Australia than here lol so not sure if I'm just worrying for nothing), don't want too be cutting vents in the bonnet. Any ideas? I may be OTT as I don't drive the car hard on the road and it wont be getting run on the Dyno that much (maybe after any mod's to see how they're helping it along).

Thanks for any info.

Stu

The Carbon does have a charge cooler, IIRC, but heatsoak has always been a problem on these engines.

Water meth does seem to help, and so did PhilW's solution, which was to divert the air conditioning.

I think 007 is in talks with a company to do something similar with his.

It's simple.

Fit the largest frontal water rad you can fit, fit a bigger/better pump, and if you want a real upgrade and performance gain, fit water/meth injection and re-tune to suit.

Any luck the picture will work and there is a graph from the dyno run today. does it look like a decent run?

Only planned mods I was thinking about were headers (ceramic coated to help with heat and corrosion), sports cats or decat (and just drop the cats in before it goes MOT) and a cam (mainly for the noise and the lumpy idle lol) But to be honest I have a track car I spend too much money on and the track days ain't cheap lol and also in the middle of paying for a wedding so if anything does happen it would be next year anyway.

Any "lumpy" cam you fit, probably wont pass a full MOT here, so bare that in mind.

Stainless manifolds should not corrode, even mild steel if used regularly should last a very long time.
But ceramic coatings if done well, can help the visual appearance for some time.

There's heat soak and then increased IATs due to inefficiencies in the blower. The former typically determines the temperature at the start of the pull whilst the latter determines the temperature at the end. Probably the most effective thing you can do is upgrade your blower to the Heartbeat 2300. Bigger, much more efficient and much more power. Not cheap though.

"These engines" don't suffer heat soak, it's the accent 122 charger that does. Saying that the numbers quoted are still low IMHO. Do what you want to your current setup but it won't help allot. Best option is fit a Heartbeat as they run cold all the time on the road, that or just accept what you have and enjoy it.

I guess it would be the full kit if I went for a heartbeat charger and not just a case of swapping over the chargers themselves and at almost £7k I don't think I would or could bring myself spend that much to be fair. Also on Monkfish website it says for the LS3 only.

It is LS3 only. There is no LS2/LS1 version, though you can by adaptor plates, so it could be done.

First thing would to find where your missing power has gone.

Cam, fuel system and headers, even with a 122 will put you into 650 area. But that really is your lot with a 122.

At what boost level/pulley size would you expect to see 650 from an LS2 with a 122 blower fitted? Would it also require a rear cog drive kit?

Interested to see what people expect to see from what before my engine refresh is finished.

IIRC When i had a 122 on my ls2 she made 650 (fly) from 8/9psi..
